Can't access libraries on Windows 8

Whenever I click on any of the library folders like Music or Pictures etc it takes me straight back to my desktop and doesn't open. I can't get into it at all. No error messages come up. It's as if I haven't clicked on it at all. Has anyone else come across this?? Thanks for your help. Nicola

Have you tried holding down the shift key while right clicking on the Library icon in the bottom lower left of the desktop taskbar and then clicking on Restore Default Libraries?

Try this, mouse pointer to bottom left corner and right click the start icon. Select Command Prompt (admin).
Copy and paste regsvr32 /i %systemroot%\system32\shell32.dll then press enter. Wait for the pop-up window that it has succeeded. Reboot and try your Libraries.
