Windows 8 - LAN Setting - Proxy Server

Only over the last few days (i.e. not before) I have discovered that the LAN Settings box for "Use a Proxy Server" keeps being automatically set which I do not want as this prevents access via Citrix. When I unset this box Citirx works fine until the next time that Windows 8 is loaded.

The machine is an ASUS Vivotab PC.

Some ideas how to get this setting to be permanent?

If use a proxy server keeps getting ticked you probably have a virus.

Give MalwareBytes or Hitmanpro a run to see what they find.

If it is a Virus you probably will not be able to download them or update your own security programs.

Tools.Internet Options.Connections.Never dial a connection should be dotted. Then Click on Lan Settings.

Click on automatically detect settings. And proxy server underneath should be unticked. Then press ok.

Thanks Jock1e. No obvious signs of a virus. I use AVG and have downloaded (just now) Superantispyware which downloaded fine and run finding only tracking cookies.

Also downloaded and run Hitmanpro, which found nothing.

That is one place where the Virus's hide but if none of your security programs are finding anything it must be Ok.

Not sure why proxy server keeps getting re ticked. Was never dial a connection already dotted or did you have to dot it and press apply Ok.

Not sure if there should be anything on the square box sometimes you get a dial up connection on that but if you don't use dial up you can clear the connection in the box.
