Is Windows defender a useless program ?

Last week my pc got infected for nearly a week (internet and windows very slow). I used Wind Defender based in the good reviews and it told me everything was o.k. I have 3 browser and with Mozilla was getting a message that my pc was running slow and I should buy a program. Then I downloaded AVG and in 1 minute found 2 Trojan files which were destroyed. After that the pc is working normally. I post this because I want people not to rely in WindDef as I did and second I'd like to hear about similar experiences. Thanks.

It is not very good as far as I am concerned.The first thing I do when I get a new computer is go to Windows Services and scroll down to Windows Defender and disable it and stop it from running.

You cannot just rely on AVG though you will need something to use in place of Windows Defender.
