Windows 8 licence - download and save

Hello, I am using xppro on my desktop PC at the moment.
Can I purchase the Licence for Win8. download it onto my Vista laptop. save it to CD or DVD, and then install it at a later date onto my XP pro PC?
My cd/dvd writer is not working at the present on the PC, so I cannot copy/save direct.
Or should I download and save to my PC, and then burn to cd/dvd when it has been replaced.
Thank you

If you download the ISO, then as far as I am aware you can install it on another computer at any time you like, presumably this also applies to burning. I can't envisage any time limitation on burning the ISO.

Quite correct but make sure you download the version you want 32 or 64 bit.

If the Vista laptop is 32 bit and the Xp desktop is 64 bit then no. You will end up with the 32 bit version only. If both 64 bit then yes. You can also download the iso to the XP desktop, copy to usb drive then use the laptop to burn the ISO to DVD.
