Installing HP C4700 Multifunction Printer

I have just installed the above printer/scanner to my laptop, having used it wirelessly on my previous laptop without a problem. It was complicated to do as it didn't 'do it itself' as the help option told me it would. I have managed to get it to print wirelessly but nowhere is there an option to scan a document (either on my laptop or on the device itself). When I click on Scan>send to PC> on the printer my laptop is not listed, whereas other pcs in the house are (and my old one was) Windows 8 seems to have successfully over-complicated everything that was simple to set up on all previous versions of windows.
Any ideas?
