Windows 8 mouse will not work

After updating to Windows 8 my mouse wheel did not work. I had to use the up/down keys. Other than that the mouse worked OK. Last night Windows did its automatic updating. This morning not only does the wheel not work but in Internet Explorer I can no longer click on file, edit, favorites, tools, help and the other buttons in that area. I am running IE-10. How can I fix it before going insane.

Maybe try Tools.Internet Options.Advanced.Click on restore advanced setting and see if that works. If that does not work go back into advanced and press reset.
Do you mean the tools don't show.If so right click the Toolbar and make sure Menu is ticked.
maybe download Firefox till you get things sorted.
