win8 -win live mail

I have win8 with win live mail set up a a pc which is switched off. On another pc/os I call daily for email using win mail. A lot of email (not all) were missing.

I looked at the win 8/win live mail set up and they are there. How does it get emails while switched off?

How do I remove win live mail with out loosing the emails?

It is not win live mail that rec the emails it is the new free outlook.
