How to get notifications to appear in the upper right hand corner?

Hi.

I'm trying to manage my notifications, most notably the calendar, with Window 8, modern UI, and I'd like them to appear in the upper-right corner. I presume this means on my desktop!

I can get notifications on my Locked screen, and my Start Screen Apps, but not in the upper-right corner!

I've gone into, Settings, Change PC Settings, Notifications, and set the apps to On. This doesn't seem to have any effect.

Hope you can help....
