Win 8 WiFi

i upgraded to Win 8 since that i have problem with wifi's speed on my laptop. i have had engineer from internet provider and checked the line and ... when i connect laptop with wire to the router speed goes over 10 mb without wire is less than 0.5mb, i used another laptop without any wire speed is just fine and fast. i have updated my wifi as well, and also i have not any particular software in my laptop to effect the speed of wifi,every other device oe device's in my house works find with good speed, any help please

Maybe change the channel number on the Router.

Maybe make and model of router and what ISP you use might help others give you the information that you require.
