How do I check my version of Win8?

An Orange IP address might be seen as French where I believe their parent company is based. You could enter your IP address into Whois to see what it shows.

If all else fails, is there anyone with a different ISP who could download the update and get the Product Key for you? After downloading, there is an option to save an .ISO file which can be burned to DVD for use later.

I have the same version as you but the small printing underneath mentions W8 Pro.So I assume it is the pro version.

Mine says version 6.2 [build 9200].

I definitely have Windows 8 Pro.

If I check using winver it does not show as Pro. If I right click on Computer and select Properties it rightly shows as Pro.

I suspect that you are not allowed to buy it because you've got it!
