itunes wont play my music since downloading windows 8

i have recently downloaded windows 8 and my itunes will now not play my music. It says the music is playing, however, no sound comes out and the cursor does not move along the bar as the music plays. My computer is definately authorised and i have plugged my iphone in since downloading windows 8. Any ideas why it is not working?
