I have an empty hard drive in a USB caddy. Is it possible to install the Developer version of Windows 8 on to this hard drive and dual boot the PC with Vista and Win 8

I wouln't advise it, Win 8 is at the very flacky beta stage and should only be installed on a bare machine for testing and development. Trying to dual book could leave your computer needing a full restore.

Its not even a beta, its a preview for developers so dont expect to much fron it. You can dual boot tho, just point the install to an empty partition and Windows will do the rest.
