bt yahoo tool bar

I have lost all my bookmarks from bt toolbar. when I click on the bookmarks icon I get a black space, the same happens with the other icon on the bar. Also I cannot add any new bookmarks. I am using the latest edition of firefox and windows 7.I have tried re-installing firefox a number of times with no success. I have the latest Internet Explorer and I am having the same problen there. Another problem I am having is with windows update. I have installed the latest updates and I am told the updates were successfully installed, when I shut down my pc i am asked to the install the same updates again and again.Could these problems be related. I am getting desperate! The only software I have installed recently is Trend Platinum anti virus Thanks in advance for any suggestions

Maybe give malwarebytes free a run to see if it finds any problems.

Could also try disabling Trend , opening your browser . If the problem clears , could indicate that you need to adjust some settings in trend .
