Win7 laptop to TV monitor problems

I have an laptop duel booted with Win7 & Ubuntu. I can get my ubuntu system to show on my TV & see to operate the system, but I cannot get my Win 7 to perform likewise to the tv as a monitor so as to do a slide show etc etc. Can you advies please what I'm doing wrong & why wont it work. (all connections in place)

Check your settings as per this tutorial:

Start Menu, select Control Panel and then open the Appearance and Personalization menu. Select Connect an external display from the Display menu. Make sure the display is duplicated on the TV, rather than being used to extend the desktop of your PC.
