Windows 7 search options missing

I have just changed from XP Pro to Windows 7, and after 'Fighting' the computer to install my Software and Hardware, (Good job I'm not a tecno-novice)I have most of it installed, however the thing I cannot find is an easy way to do searches.
I run 4 hard drives and often plug in different USB drives. ON XP there is no problem in searching all drives and folders or searching for documents, video's etc, but this seems to be missing in Windows 7, or have I missed it somewhere.

If you double click computer and look at the top left of the window you should have a search box there. This should be in each window you open.
