Blu ray player for windows 7

I have just bought a new Ivy bridge PC with a blu ray drive. I thought that it would be simply a matter of inserting the film blu ray and the same would run. However I believe that windows 7 does not support blu ray play function. Can anyone please assist in getting software which runs blu ray discs. If anyone has any experience of running such software, your comments will be gratefully received. Hopefully there is a free software out there otherwise the drive is useless.

Chronus, have you used the "Blue ray player free" as you mention above?. I cannot find any reviews of the same , I am naturally suspicious about installing unknown software.
