Right click on your Network Icon on taskbar next to clock - select Open Network & Sharing Center - click Network (Home Network) - make your selection - ie:Home Network

I keep being referred back to changing the networks location type from public to home in the sharing centre - but I simply cannot find how to so this - when I do open a page in advanced sharing settings and change the sharing options in home I am unable to click on 'save changes' as it is greyed out??

Try this right click on command prompt, run as admin. then when the command prompt pops up type in netsh winsock reset catalog and hit enter. Then you will have to restart your computer.

Alternatively try a System Restore if you have one to just prior to the problem occurring.

From that screen do you have Turn on Network Discovery selected?

Nope! Still showing as Unidentified network - Public Profile! Wifi signal being pickup at full strength - but simply not connecting to internet through this public profile - whatever is this?
