Passed the black screen.

Hi every one, my nephew has asked on f/book for advice about his lap top, his question is...when I switch on pc, it goes passed the black screen and stays on the blue screen, if I press start windows normally it just goes back to the screen with two options, I can't get it to run any further. Is there any advice out there for him? Thanks'.

What is the laptop manufacture and model?

Has he loaded any new software or downloads recently?

Does the HDD light flicker or light on power up?

Are there any messages on screen at any time?

Have you tried booting into 'Safe Mode' or BIOS to see if that works?

Have you tried booting from CD?
