Have recently returned my laptop to factory settings, increased the memory and installed Windows7 and have now lost the wireless capability - usually switched on using Fn+F1 buttons. Any ideas??

Is the Network Connection icon showing on the taskbar next to the clock? If so right click on it and select troubleshoot problems OR select Open Network and Sharing Center - Change Adapter Settings - right click on your Adapter and click Diagnose
You should also look in Device Manager to see if any yellow exclamation mark next to your Network Adapter.

Thanks for this - but all is ok - it just keeps telling me to turn on the wireless connection or plug in ethernet cable - which I'm using now! The wireless just won't turn on!

Have you tried updating the driver for the wireless adapter? Is it showing in device manager?
Have you tried re-setting your router security to WEP?

''Have recently returned my laptop to factory settings''When did you do this, was it before or after you installed Windows 7 ? The make/model of your laptop would be helpful
