Not sure what to get for upgrades (hardware)

I'm currently looking into upgrading my computer's processor and graphics card, and have a limited currency cap to do so. I looked on NewEgg and found a good i5 processor that I'm very interested in that's relatively cheap (~$200) but am unsure of it's compatibility with my system. I have my computer's current specifications on this blog: http://ccspecs.blogspot.com/2012/01/current-build.html
Can anyone please take a look and let me know what sort of things I need to be sure of before I commit to a purchase?

Also, the computer I'm wanting upgraded is used for a lot of 3D modeling (Maya, 3ds, ZBrush, etc) and gaming, as well as general internet usage.

Your current computer spec is an AMD spec about 5 or 6 years old. The i5 is an INTEL spec, so you need to buy a new computer..............
