i was wondering how many people would prefare linux to windows.

i say linux as i find it is free! safer! easy for all people no matter there level of pc knowledge! it is quicker, it takes up much much less space on your hardrive and the are 100's to choose from also you have free access to 1000's of pieces of software and games! in the FREE! ubuntu software center! and they are just a few reasons why i think linux is better than windows!

what do you guys think?....?

I know what you mean but to me it seems very "naive" because of it's simplicity - if that makes sense. I have been using Windows "for ever" it seems so linux to me seems like the old operating systems used on school pc's when they first started. My partner always had a linux machine and recently decided to put Ubuntu on an old desktop here just to have a look at it as he always raved about linux and the fact that software is free and there are no compatability issues. However I notice that he hasn't gone back to it and it remains on the old spare desktop pc, unused.

A few years ago i gave Ubuntu a go on a really crap laptop that gave up the ghost after six months but i was surprised at how light the OS was.You are right about the freebies and the fact is was great to use for internet, email on the move.

I would not swap Linux and Window$ though,i think Win 7 is fabulous,as for XP well i have that on a netbook and when this OS is eventually abandoned, unless some programmers can produce patches etc,i may wipe it and install a Linux version, maybe not Ubuntu cause i can see the day when maybe that becomes a paid version.
