Go to your laptop's manufacturers site and download the latest driver for the lan card. Reboot and try again.

Hi rdave,
Removed cover plate (2screws) removed push in antenna wires. All been changed antenna and wifi. You need to be heavy handed to demage something so basic.
It is prob a mother board problem and is nothing obvious .
Is a bitch of a problem lol.

Clutching at straws here, uninstall via device manager and shutdown. Connect laptop via ethernet and try Windows update after 'found new hardware wizard' shows. If you get a Windows update for the card see if it works. Also in device manager check its power management and try unticking 'allow the computer to turn off this device to save power'.

To get 'found new hardware wizard' type hdwwiz in the search box if it doesn't show and try the generic driver. See if you can see your connection after a reboot before trying Windows update.
