Windows Live Mail

I have Windows 7 with Windows Live Mail ; live mail does not always download a safe email from the server, it also, sometimes, does not indicate that an email has been sent. I am very reluctant to uninstall and reinstall live mail because of my large email base - I run an information service and it takes days and days to type the information back into the my computer. I would appreciate any advice that might be going. Many thanks, Bridge
