Partitioning Hard drive for backup.

Hey, I would like to partition my 500 GB hard drive to create a D-drive to use as a backup drive for my work.

Question is; do I follow the instructions in Step 1 in this link: http://www.techspot.com/guides/143-dual-boot-windows7/ and then I can use the newly created D-drive as a back-up?

I would suggest downloading the free Partition Wizard. Works perfectly OK with Win7 and allows all sizes of partition which Win7 built in manager doesn't.

A total waste of time having partitions, as if your drive goes down you loose the lot. Both 'C' drive and 'D' drive as well, so bang goes all your files and photographs olso music etc. Just like putting all your eggs in one basket don't you think?

By a cheap USB external hdd, and a copy of Acronis True Image (make sure you get the Windows 7 version.

The whole lot can go bang, and as long as you do regular backups with Acronis, you can restore the lot!
