Advanced recovery options.

When I select the 'advanced recovery options' button, I get the response, 'Could not find required recovery files'. What are these recovery files and where do I find them? I have an HP 4710s laptop running Windows 7 Prof SP1 32 bit. The hard drive is failing and will need to be replaced soon. I have used Windows backup to make a 'system image' of my hard drive on an external drive but now I can't see how to access this copy after I've installed the new hard drive and operating system. Can any one help?

Hi you should have made a system repair Disc
Then all you do is boot the computer from the disc and use it to load the back-up onto the new drive
