Vista Ultimate upgrade to Win7 problems

Have Vista Ultimate running fine on my PC with SP2 installed - have run the upgrade to Win 7 Ultimate twice now and each time all seems OK for a day or two and then I start to get BSOD crashes whenever I try to run any software - fortunately I cloned my C: drive before doing the upgrade so easy to revert back to Vista which is working well.
When I have time I will investigate further since I think it possibly starts with a problem in Media Player - anyone else having problems of this nature?
