win 7 & dell inspiron 6000 drivers

Installed win 7 on my old dell inspiron 6000.
Aero works ok but cant connect to internet now via lan or wireless. lan did work when first installed but possibly an update has stopped it.
Did not get Intel PRO/Wireless 2200BG card to work. Driver properties say working ok.
Any ideas what to do next?
Has anyone had same issues for this lappy & used any drivers that worked?

Before one upgrade to a new OS on a computer one must first make sure that the divers are

available

The Dell Inspiron 6000 cannot be updated to Vista or Windows 7, as drivers are not available

from Dell support site it is a “Windows XP Machine Only” at present

You can possible find the Vista/7 Drivers for each piece of hardware by searching the Internet

Best suggestion would be to reinstall XP until a later date and than check if Win7 drivers

available

ha, removed my drive and installed 7 on new hard drive. Guessed I may run into probs so didnt format etc. If I cant get 7 to work will shove on ebay unregistered (25 days left!). What I will be able to do is make sure some important older software runs on 7 before i replace my lappy for newer model.

Naa, this lappy too old for 7 (4yrs). I just can't be bothered trawling around looking for drivers that might work. I did like the look of 7 & will be on my next lappy.

Keep checking with windows update it took five or six tries to get Windows 7 home premium updated to the latest video drivers which will then allow the Dell Inspiron 6000 to run Aero Themes

The other issues I had were

Sound, which was solved by downloading the latest driver from Dell support if you check in compatibility you will see it supports Vista 32 bit so installs and works no problem

Wireless, which was solved by using the latest drivers for the Intel 2200 BG

All in all with 2 gigs of ram it runs quite well
