I installed windows 7 64bit(clean install).
When windows starts up I get a loud pop/crack sound through my 2.1 speakers , even when I press mute the button and shutdown my pc .
I'm using a Asus P5K Premium motherboard
(on board sound )ac97/high def audio.
I did'nt have a problem with Vista but I had a Soundmax audio driver disk for the vista version.

Thanks ambra4 but I have installed this driver and still get the same problem.
What about using a soundcard and not the motherboards sound device ?

Yes, you can use a sound card; but you might have the same problem with Windows7 driver not available on CD
or on the web site
