Sound problem

I have installed windows 7 on my laptop, which had xp. When I try to play a dvd in windows media player video works but sound makes a scratching wierd sound. When I play a music cd in windows media player everything is fine. Any suggestions what might be the problem.

Try installing the sound drivers for windows vista.

I had trouble finding drivers for an older SB card, it sorted it's self out when one of the automatic updates installed was installed
