System/notification icons

Does anybody know if the system icons (in bottom right of screen) are supposed to be all white? I've looked around on the internet and people seem uncertain.
For me, the sound, network and battery icons are white- are they really supposed to be like that? If they are, it seems like a bit of a step back- I mean, I can't easily quickly glance at how much battey life I have and what is the point in the wireless symbol having bars if it doesn't show you what your signal strength is?
Maybe it's just me, but I just don't think it looks right...

Both the signal strength bars and the battery symbol turn grey from the right or top respectively as levels drop.

That's interesting to know, thanks. Mine must not be working properly then I guess, neither the battery or the wireless logos ever do anything (apart from the battery symbol changes when I get down to 7% battery).
