If you have, how did the installation go - was it smoother than a smooth thing in a smooth shop, or did the installer start looping, and run through the process again? Several people seem to have experienced this problem.

Are you typing in the dashes? If so, just ignore them as they are inserted automatically. Caught me out first time.

FreeCell - can confirm didn't type in the dashes (three tries so far).
BurrWalnut - Many thanks. I haven't had a reminder yet so perhaps the message itself was an error.

Tried to load on a spare XP Unit as a clean install it initially couldn't see a drive and asked for drivers so I loaded the SATA disk used for XP and formated the drive, the install prog seemed to accept this but would not go any further giving an "unable to create install partition" error, there does not seem to be the format and partition options that are available on an XP setup.
At present unable to go further as the prog doesn't give any other options to repair etc!
Will carry on tomorrow!

You can download as many copies of the Windows 7 Release Candidate as you like, and you'll get a registration key each time. The keys will only work with one install though, so it's unhelpful to post them here, where several people may try to use them.
I've deleted a post which contained two registration keys.

No problems installing it, the only bugbear I do not like is the backup it made of the previous BETA install, (windows.old), it was 52GB's, which I have now deleted.
I like the XP compatability mode, this allowed me to install some old software that would not install on the previous BETA.

The backup routine is normal - it happens with Vista, too. It's perfectly safe to delete the backup folder, once you're happy that Windows 7 is running OK.

Finally managed to install 7, had to disconnect a second (IDE) drive and leave just my main SATA. Setup then agreed to start install but baulked at the unzip stage and threw up an error, I then tried reinstalling Win XP with a full format of the drive. It seemed that the format part of Win 7 install had corrupted my drive! Setup then ran OK and I am now writing this on Win 7, so far seems very good with the good bits of Vista without the delays etc.

Just done my "stroppy box", and avoiding hyperbole, simile or metaphor this time (sorry, FE, sorry!), install was totally trouble free. Took 12 minutes total, just had to add drivers for the wireless USB that wasn't identified. Printer, PCI RAID controller, TV card and old Fax card all recognised and installed without further drivers. Excellent experience.
At this rate, I'll be upgrading from XP on at least 3 machines, so Microsoft may increase profits again at this rate!

Now downloading the 64 bit version, 7 hours this time.
Be interesting to see which of my current bits don't work, or work better.

Up and running.
By far the easiest and fastest Windows install in the last twenty years.
