Right click the desktop - choose view then choose the size required.

Sorry to be so far behind gents, I only just joined the forum. Another way to do this is to left click andywhere on the desktop, then hold control and then adjust the icon size using the scroll button on your mouse. This also works with sub-folders and icons within folders.

Actually, CTRL and scroll work by themselves, no need to left click. This will not work on every screen though.
