i read that the beta version will 'expire' in august 09.
does that mean we can then buy it, which means it's coming out then!
or will we have to suffer a black screen until the official version is released?
or maybe something else...any ideas anyone?
p.s. i'm impressed with W7 [coming up from XP]

almost certainly.
There will be other versions , for example a RC (release candidate) before it is finally available.
The best guess is late 2009 but could be early 2010.

The MS rumour is that they would like to release 7 in time for (festive word omitted). Things have a habit of being pushed back, depending on how the BETA performs (must say, it;s better than the Vista BETA by a mile)
You will not, however be able to buy it in August, although you never know, Microsoft might extend the BETA testing period if they feel it's required.

I dont think August is that far off myself, this thing is done and dusted feature wise and just a few bugs to iron out. My personal bet is a late September release.

so there will be another trial version of Windows7 for you to download before the current beta licence expires.
