...But still have concerns about Acronis TI. I don't want to remove it from my xp machine, although it's not used much these day's. I have heard that issues exist with the Boot manager..Anyone had problems with this?

I'm using 11 and got no such info! First step post installation "Create bootable media" Odd sinch we are both using the same version...Better to be safe than sorry though.

In view of your correct analysis of my potential dire consequences I have contacted Acronis for their view.
It could be I shall be forever in you debt if the reply says get it installed!

It's only needed when the O/S won't boot at all, even in safe mode you can still recover with a .tib backup file, but you never know when things might go horibbly wrong....Happens to me all the time, but I'm BETA testing stuff, drivers, software etc....Acronis has never let me down, it's an invaluable bit of kit in the tweakers armoury :))

...Seems to be proceeding normally, I got round the Acronis issue by fiddling with advanced partitioning. Not sure it'll dual boot yet, but XP pro is safe, and Acronis will return things to former state if required.
