Specific 360 problems

Now that we've all had a chance to let Norton 360 settle into its stride it would be good to hear about any specific problems that have occurred.

In my case I had a clear run until I switched on my test machine this afternoon. Norton 360 threw a wobbly, and decided it wanted to fire up 'One-click support' and send an error report back to base. It asked me for permission to do this, and I agreed. Then followed a process of collecting and transmitting data about my machine, after which 360 told me it was 'attempting a fix'.

I carried on working whilst all this went on, and after about ten minutes I was told that the fix had failed, and I was advised to 'try again later'. I have continued working, and all seems fine - at no time was the computer slowed by all the goings on, and Norton tells me 'You are protected'.

What about you - have you had a similar experience, or has Norton 360 done something else unexpectedly? Please don't post here if all is humming along nicely - we want to hear about problems in this thread.

but I left the machine running, and connected to the net. Just idling, as I didnt leave it running any tasks, downloads etc. You can imagine my surprise when I came back to find my copy of 360 was dead. It wouldnt even open, much less respond to any input from me. Best guess is that the netguard that was still running when I installed it has decided it was there first and didnt want to share.

I've wiped as much as I can find, gone back to the restore point, reinstalled and I'm trying to repeat what happened. I'll report back if anything untoward happens in the next couple of days.

I have just found a major problem for me,Norton keeps crashing when I'm playing an online game.I am going to have to uninstall it as everytime the game switches room up pops a "MS has closed symantec" window, and when I close these windows the game crashes too.

The error message reads

"Microsoft Windows

Symantec Shared Component stopped working and was closed

A problem caused the application to stop working correctly.Windows will notify you if a solution is available"

I will reload N360 after I have played the game for awhile,I got a similar error when I used AVG & also Kasperspy so its not an unusual problem but the only way I could cure these errors was to remove the application causing it.

Twice yesterday and once so far today I`ve had runtime errors in Internet Explorer. Two "abnormal program termination" and one message that says "This application has requested the runtime to terminate it in an unusual way. Please contact the applications support team for more info"

Never had these before and can`t seem to find anything in events viewer either.

I feel like I'm cheating really because I haven't had a single issue with Norton since its install apart from a slight delay in automatic updating which I've sorted now. It just sits there and gets on with it and I have a 5 year old PC! No crashing and no speed issues. Very happy with it!

I have attempted - again today - to get Insight to complete but it still will only go to 91% even if I leave the laptop for an hour.

I am now having constant issues with opening Firefox and Explorer Browsers - they seem to crash or freeze. I have had to end the process via Task Manager and on a couple of occassion had to resort to rebooting by power off.

I have just tried the backup facility - the interface is simplistic and not at all intuitive. I have tried to add a specific folder to the backup regime and although N360 tells me its added the file types fail to appear in the listed types. Clicking on the C drive caused N360 to freeze completely.
