Specific 360 problems

Now that we've all had a chance to let Norton 360 settle into its stride it would be good to hear about any specific problems that have occurred.

In my case I had a clear run until I switched on my test machine this afternoon. Norton 360 threw a wobbly, and decided it wanted to fire up 'One-click support' and send an error report back to base. It asked me for permission to do this, and I agreed. Then followed a process of collecting and transmitting data about my machine, after which 360 told me it was 'attempting a fix'.

I carried on working whilst all this went on, and after about ten minutes I was told that the fix had failed, and I was advised to 'try again later'. I have continued working, and all seems fine - at no time was the computer slowed by all the goings on, and Norton tells me 'You are protected'.

What about you - have you had a similar experience, or has Norton 360 done something else unexpectedly? Please don't post here if all is humming along nicely - we want to hear about problems in this thread.

Regarding Firefox;

I have been battling this for over an hour now,and still no joy.

Open Firefox...get a blank page ( not my home page, PCA ).

Configure Firefox to show my windows and tabs from last time...still blank page.

Closing down Firefox used to show and ask me to save and quit my tabs, now it just's shuts down and will not bring back my tabs.

Considering Firefox is treated as Not To Be Trusted (actually its some of its DLL'S) and the effect N360 has on my Firefox....im not really surprised.

I have had my first problem since installing the beta on a clean XP install. I got a runtime error that appeared to relate to my outlook express email client. Both OE and Norton 360 closed down,I opened OE again and it is working OK. I cannot get Norton 360 to load, when I click on the Icon in the programmes menu nothing happens, I suspect I will be able to load it after a reboot but as I am d/l a rather large file (windows 7 beta) it will have to wait.

It would seem that if you concatinate the Norton toolbar with another toolbat (eg Roboform)the layout is not maintained between opening browser windows and sometime between actions in the same browser.

I've had to restart my laptop 3x just to get here...
At this point I'm not sure if N-360 is the culprit but I can say that I have been very careful not to make any changes to my system since joining this forum?????

Norton 360 would not let me partition my harddrive it would not let PM lock the harddrive I had to uninstall to complete the process. I don't think this is a bug just Norton running in the background doing its job.

Has anyone had any joy in using the "Shut Down PC After Scan" option? I started a scan the other night and as I was leaving the house I thought I would use the option of shutting down my PC after the scan had been completed. When I returned 4 hours later, my PC and Norton were both still on because Norton has discovered 2 tracking cookies and needed my advice on what to do. As soon as I said chose delete it shut down my PC, which wasn't a lot of help really! I havent gone through all the options with a fine tooth comb but surely there must be a way of shutting down and dealing with the problems Norton found the next time you boot up?

N360 now failing to initialise.

Following yet another crash with Firefox a reboot found N360 very slow to load but it did start up.

I ran a scan and a few other of the utilities within N360 and closed down the machine afterwards everything was fine no problems reported by N360

The only anomaly was that N360 reported clearing 252 temporary IE files .....rather surprising as IE hadn't been run at all since N360 cleared it when first installed.

Nowafter returning to the machine N360 has failed to initialise at all.

Today, when logging in to any site Norton pops up with the save your password message box, and the online completion form message box. I turned this off two days ago, and again four time today and they still keeps popping up.

My default browser should be Google Chrome, today it wouldn't even load and I have had to re-install it for it to work.
