Laptop for max £450

My son would like his first laptop, mine an Asus 5750 i3 Sandybridge is OK but he would a little more gaming grunt. However a gaming laptop is not within the budget. I was originally thinking i5 core but then read about AMD's new integrated chips (APU's?). Seems like you could get a lot of bang for your buck as their integrated cpu / graphics provide extra synergy for less cash. Any thoughts on this or recommendations - I like Asus, we have had 5 PC's / laptops from to date and never a problem - they just reached their tech sell by date. Having said this I would consider anything reasonable. Thanks for any feedback, even the reviews are a bit of a minefield!
