Suitable laptop for under 400 pound

I'm looking to get a new laptop and my budget is around 350-400 pound. I'm a keen gamer but I'm not looking to play any modern games on it (more the likes of Thief I & II, original Deus Ex, System Shock, Grim Fndango, Commandos 2, Syndicate Wars, that sort of era maybe even San Andreas, Invisible War or Hitman Blood Money if that's not pushing it).

I'll also be using it to make music and videos. So ideally I'm looking for something that can run some decent, amateurish music and movie making software too.

Screen size and storage capacity aren't big issues for me I just want to play some of my old favoruites and do some non-pro music and movie making.

I don't know much about different kinds of APUs so if anyone can explain which chips are more suitable for my needs that'd be a great help!

Additionally, does anyone know if there are any issues with playing older games on newer machines?

Any suggestions will be much appreciated.

Thanks.
