how much data does streaming use

hi everyone, im a bit stuck. does anyone here know how much data you actually use when watching a streaming video or if i can get a programme that measures it?? im thinking of going with mobile broadband but i watch about 3-4 programmes a week on i-player and 4OD, their download size is usually 300-500mb which would kill the limits unless streaming less intensive. any help would be appreciated. Cheers

As I understand it, the streaming is much less data intensive than the full download. I base this in the fact that BBC iPlayer says that when a programme is downloaded, it is of better quality.

I don't know of any program that will measure the downloads.

If you are using Iplayer in NORMAL QUALITY then for 1 hour programme you download about 228MB and upload 6MB approximately.

If you are watching the same programme on HIGH QUALITY then expect your download to be about 312MB with upload of 8MB for 1 hour programme.

Hope this answers the questions of thousands of others out there who want to know the answer to this burning question.
