I recently updated my blackberry software and lost everything on my phone. I would like some advice on how to do this in the future without loosing everything.

If you used Blackberry Desktop software to update your phone, a backup should have been made automatically. If you click on 'Tools' then on 'Desktop', under the 'General' tab you will see where it is saved to. I think the default is 'My Documents\Blackberry\Backup'

If you click the 'Device' button you will see options to create a backup and to restore from your backup.
