Emails - Samsung Galaxy S

For some unknown reason I can no longer send or receive emails on my phone unless I use Gmail. I've checked incoming and outgoing server details and both are correct. Any ideas out there please.

Strange. I re-entered incoming server details and, hey presto, all is well. Still could not send the emails in my out-box until they suddenly went. Any thoughts please. Smart phone no good if emailing is unpredictable.

I've got a Samsung Galaxy S and the only time I've had problems has been when there have been problems with my mobile operator's servers.
