Ipod Touch mk1 Battery

My Ipod Touch is now 3 years old and the battery requires charging every 6/7 hours even without much use. I think the model is a mk1 and I cannot for the life of me see how to open the case to renew the battery. Can it be done ?
Thanks

A iPod Touch battery replacement is possible but from my friend's experience he recommends asking a repair shop about it as a DIY repair could break other components.
Whilst he was searching the internet he found this UK website about iPod repairs. They have a number to call 0845 8053 041 and they offer a nationwide repair service via couriers, I believe they use Fedex - maybe they can help?
My friend said their engineers were really helpful and were happy to answer his enquiries.
