HTC Sync - Desire HD to Win 7

Has anyone an idea why I can identify an HTC Desire with their sync software on an XP computer but Win 7 won't detect it at all?

Yes, Version: 3.0.5551 It works on XP, but not on Windows 7. Also XP can see it as a removable disk drive, but W7 explorer doesn't see it at all.

Also running the detect new hardware wizard doesn't see it either.

It's showing up in the devices and printers as Android Phone from the control panel, and saying it's working properly and the driver is upto date, but still not detecting it as something to use.

The SD card in my Wildfire doesn't always show up when connected, but if I run HTC Sync it works fine (running Win 7 Pro x64).
