HTC HERO or LG ARENA

Thanks in advance.
Getting a new phone and have gotten myself into a spin :)
Have been reading up (too much) lol and am torn between the Htc Hero and Lg Arena KM900. Just do not know which one to plump for.
So here i am to ask for people's advice, views and opinions on the said phone's.
Also is the Lg Arena actually a smartphone or not.

Don't know about those 2 but my daughter has the Samsung Jet and I am quite impressed with that one.
