Using mobile abroad

When abroad we sometimes need to use our UK mobile phone to make business calls to landlines in the UK. We are billed for the additional costs of making / receiving calls. Can anyone tell me whether the fact that our phone is being used from abroad will show up on any type of caller display system? We prefer that people don't know that we're on holiday!

so don't worry. Just make sure that if you're in a different time zone you don't call someone in the middle of the UK night.

that if someone calls you from the UK they will hear an alien ringing tone. It will be the one used by the foreign network - the one you're roaming on - so have your explanation ready!
