Always had nokia phones,my next upgrade the n81(8gb)comes sometime this week,have read some very mixed reviews about the build quality,has anyone got one of these?comments appreciated

Got the phone and yeah its a bit plasticky unlike my e65 other than that its good.
One thing i cant sort out,every nokia phone ive had when power down the time and date details are visible,does anyone know why the n81 just has a blank screen?
