How far does HSDPA and 3G reach ? This is for an area where the house is too far from the exchange but in clear line of site of a mast (about 7 miles) and wondering if an HSDPA or 3G or other hih speed USB data card will provide internet access ?

I don't know about range, except that 3g range is less than the 2/2.5g range in terms of reception. This might help click here

Thanks, it is sort of on the edge of coverage, so hard to know. I know of long range wifi dishes and antennae that you can buy for roof tops. Are there similar roof top dishes / antennae for receiving 3G / HSDPA mobile broadband for a computer ? They supply small USB devices but I would need to somehow connect it to an outside dish or antennae if this is to work.
If anyone knows or has any links to such products it would be appreciated. Thanks.

There is a small threaded connection on my T-Mobile card which looks like it is for an Ariel but I don’t have the info book for the card to hand.
