for more innovation - expect phones to become more and more like miniature computers, and to have much larger onboard memory capacities.
There'll be better-looking devices, and more bells and whistles - all in the name of competition. The phone companies must innovate or die; we've all got phones now, and it's difficult to see how the size of the market can expand by very much. The only answer for the manufacturers is to try to kill the competition with more objects of desire, and for the network operators to encourage us to use our phones more.

More devices either come from the Wi-Fi industry and add GSM capabilities like the Pirelli <A HREF="click here" title="click here" TARGET="_new"><b>Pirelli DP-L10</b></A> or from the mobile industry <A HREF="click here" title="click here" TARGET="_new"><b>Nokia N95</b></A>.
Will see more and more capabilities that will enable users to move from one technology to the other without the need of user interaction.
