hi. I updated my windows vista service pack 2 and now there is a problem somewhere. The bottom of the screen says this copy of windows is not genuine and im getting a pop up box saying windows modules installer has stopped working and has closed. I can still acess internet and files though. There,s an update pending which dosn't seem to be downloading as its at 0% ?? Any clues. Its asking to reinstall from original disc and im not sure if i can do that or not. Would a system restore help? Thanks

Some updates take a while to download but most should take no longer than 30 minutes.
You could try right click my computer and click on properties and that should tell you if tour W/Vista is activated or not.
Could be a virus maybe run Malwarebytes just to see if computer is clean or not.

All depends if you upgraded it from XP or not as it maybe an XP one.
If you bought it with vista on it there should be a coa sticker on it with the proper keycode for it and whatever version it says on it Xp-Vista it will only be for that particular Windows.
Not sure if you should go ahead and click it maybe wait and see what others think.
Spybot is a blast from the past and although still in use certainly not as good as Malwarebytes.

A system restore to before you ran the updates may help but I would wait and see what others think.
This is not just a Vista fault so maybe you should close this one and put it in the helproom instead where you should get better and quicker help.

There should be a sticker with the keycode on it on your computer somewhere if it is a laptop it will be underneath.
Just check it with the one that already shows.
