Gateway vista computer shuts off after 15 minutes

My gateway 520-ml3109 shuts down after 15 minutes

It is in the middle of surfing the web, and started 2 days ago. I am thinking maybe it needs to have the cooling fan cleaned, but not sure. It is on main power not battery only.

Thank you for your help, I am going to take it to a friend that knows how open the computer case and clean it out. I told him what you said about the fan and taking the battery out and he said that you are absolutely right. I am glad that you said it because he may have forgotten to do this. Thanks again. Mary
